To perform it's role the Operations Brigade works with a wide range of equipment.  For example Government Radio Network (GRN) and Very High Frequency (VHF) radios are used for communicating with appliances (fire fighting vehicles) and others up and down the chain of CFS command.

Portable radios and satellite telephones are also used, where reliable communications in remote areas is required.

For its mobile command post role using the Field Operations 51 vehicle, the Brigade employs laptop computers and a portable weather station. 

To assist in long range communication in remote areas the vehicle has retractable antenna masts and power generators.
