The Region 1 Operations Brigade is a specialist group of volunteers who provide incident management and communications support to frontline firefighters.

Membership of this brigade is ideal for anyone who'd like to volunteer with the CFS, but who may not be interested in frontline firefighting (ie. squirting water on fire).  If you have strong organisational skills, IT skills or clerical capabilities, then you might like to consider enquiring about joining this brigade.  We train at 7:30pm every Wednesday night during the fire season, at the regional headquarters at Mt Barker.  Contact CFS Region 1 HQ on 8391 1866 to be put in touch with our brigade captain.

The Brigade helps with Incident Management providing operational, planning and logistic services.  These include radio, telephone and facsimile communications, sourcing and deployment of appliances, resource tracking, intelligence gathering, mapping and other planning functions.

We also manage operations of a forward command centre and management of staging areas.

Members come from diverse backgrounds and professions, like most other CFS brigades. Some are also current or past members of firefighting brigades who bring with them valuable experience.

We are based at:
